General Technical Information

TruTorq actuators are compact Double Acting (DA) and Spring Return (SR) pneumatic actuators which are based on a double rack and pinion design.

They are suitable for quarter turn movement and modulating. One of the types is also available for half turn movement, 180º.

The actuators comply fully with all the relevant industry standards for interfaces and connections such as ISO 5211, DIN 3337, VDI/VDE 3845 and NAMUR.

Actuator Operating Principle

Description of the actuators operating principle, standard pneumatic rack and pinion actuators.

Note: Single Acting (SR) actuators are supplied as Fail Close (FC) units as standard. Reverse acting, Fail Open (FO), must be specified at the time of order.

Actuator sizing

There are several types and sizes of TruTorq pneumatic actuators providing a wide torque range. This enables efficient and economical torque matching.

The torque tables provide actual torque values for the range of actuators at typical pressure and spring configurations.

When sizing an actuator, we recommend that a factor of safety is applied to the valves normal torque.

Actuators, Standard Interfaces

Trutorq Pneumatic Actuators are designed to and in compliance with the following standards:

DIN3337: Orientation of insert sleeve is 45 degrees offset, not in-line.

ISO5211: Orientation of actuator to valve mounting flange (i.e. F05, F07…)

VDI/VDE 3845: Namur mounting for accessories such as switchboxes, solenoid valves and positioners.

Drilling Patterns, ISO 5211

The holes drilled at the actuators, for connecting of the actuators to the valves, are drilled according to ISO 5211. Note! Some actuators have double drilling, ie. two different drilling patterns in the same time (eg, F05 and F07)
